The program provides ongoing treatment, routine and specialty dental services to facilitate continual health improvement and reduce infection. Responding to the need for professional and discreet dental care for people living with HIV/AIDS, The Geisel-Morris Dental opened its doors in November 2002.
Dental Staff The clinic has a staff including dentists, dental assistants, an office manager and hygienist.
Importance of Oral Health Care
For patients who are HIV , regular oral health appointments can make a huge difference. Many times, we are able to prevent a patient from moving to an AIDS diagnosis through an oral examination. You see, oftentimes AIDS manifests orally before systemically. When our dentists and hygienists spot worrisome lesions, they will refer the patient to the primary care physician for a fast check of the T cell and Viral Loads. A change in medication can make all the difference between living with HIV and being very sick with AIDS. And, sometimes, that difference is life or death.
Services
The dental program is divided
into three categories of procedures:
Prophylaxis: This includes
dental x-ays, cleanings,
checkups, and adjustments to removable appliances.
Routine: exams, fillings and crowns.
Specialty Procedures: surgical extractions, periodontal scaling, dentures and partials and root
canals. To begin this process call
TCAIN's administrative agency
at (817) 923-2800.
How Do I Access The Clinic? To access this clinic you will need to schedule an intake with the administrative agency. You will be asked about your medical and dental history and you will be asked to fill out a few forms.
Dental services are available at reasonable fees for individuals who are not HIV positive
